The last decade or so has definitely seen the ‘loss of innocence’ of airports worldwide. It seems that every other week there are some new security measures being put in place to help airport security staff in the enormous task of preventing criminal activities from taking place in our skies.

For the most part these measures have been technologically based, with new screening mechanisms being used to detect dangerous items.

But it is also important for security to use other methods for identifying potential problems which is why many airports are now investing in education for their security staff into the study of body language and other similar initiatives.

Having a good understanding of when a person is nervous can allow security staff to make better use of the technology they use when they pull individuals aside for a more thorough examination of their effects.

Excess sweating is one of the more obvious signs of stress and is something that security staff would be looking for as they attempt to identify potential problems.

Of course sufferers of hyperhidrosis will know that sweating is not the only cause of stress. So security staff are trained to use sweating as just one of many potential tell tale signs that could indicate a person is boarding the plane with mischief in mind.

Wigston library, in Leicester UK has banned one of its regular members, 27 yr old Stuart Penman for having offensive body odor. Mt Penman was a daily user of the computers at the library, but after a string of complaints from other members the library was forced to issue a ban until he was able to fix the odor radiating from his feet and underarms.

Mr Penman reluctantly admitted that he may have a slight problem, but was upset that he was not alerted to the complaints so that he could attempt to do something about the problem.

Treating hyperhidrosis can be as simple as a natural remedy or as complicated as a surgical procedure – where you currently fall on this scale will depend on the following factors

What Hyperhidrosis Treatment Have You Tried?

If you have tried very few treatments for your hyperhidrosis then it is recommended that you start off with some of the natural remedies and commercial products first. If these fail then you would move onto the more serious treatment methods.

How Severe Is Your Condition?

People suffering with mild cases of hyperhidrosis wil usually be able to solev their problem with a natural remedy or an antiperspirant that is slightly stronger than the usual off the shelf varieties.

If you are suffering from a much more debilitating case of hyperhidrosis then there is a good chance that the lower end treatments will do very little to ease your suffering. In this case you are probably going to be forced into something like Botox or surgery if you are to cure your condition for good.

From Which Area Is The Excess Sweating the Worst?

Primary hyperhidrosis occurs mainly in the armpits, hands, feet or head. each of these will have different treatment options that are likely to be more successful

Natural Hyperhidrosis Treatments

If you have not yet exhausted all the natural hyperhidrosis treatments then this is your recommended first step. the ideal solution will be one that uses natural products to help you permanently stop sweating.

Click here To Learn How To Stop Sweating Naturally

Botox For Hyperhidrosis

When you think Botox you think actor with a vain streak having their Botox treatment to help them fight off the effects of aging.

And while this is by far the most common use for the procedure, it has also been discovered that Botox is an effective methods of treating hyperhidrosis, espeically when it occurs under the arms.

In fact in 2004 the FDA approved the use of Botox to treat axillary hyperhidrosis, which is the technical name for excessive armpit sweating. This can occur in cases where creams and antiperspirants have had no positive effect on the patient.

Click Here To Learn More About Botox for Hyperhidrosis

Iontophoresis Hyperhidrosis Treatment

This form of hyperhidrosis treatment involves the use of a piece of equipment known as an iontophoresis machine.

This procedure is effective in curing excess sweating of the hands (palmar hyperhidrosis) and feet (plantar hyperhidrosis).

The iontophoresis machine is filled with fluid and the hands or feet are placed into this fluid. An electrical current is passed through the fluid while it holds your hands or feet and can reduce the amount of sweating that occurs from these areas.

Click Here To read More About The Iontophoresis Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hyperhidrosis Surgery

If the excessive sweating is sever enough and all other options have been tested with no success, then the last resort when it comes to hyperhidrosis treatments is surgery.

The major procedure used is known as an Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS), and the main aim of the surgery is to severe and remove the section of the sympathetic nerve chain that is causing the excess sweating.

This procedure is most successful for people who suffer from palmar hyperhidrosis (the hands), and is moderately successful for axillary hyperhidrosis (the armpits).

In a minority of cases the surgery will also help reduce sweating of the feet, but no surgery is done with this as a primary goal.

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that affects a small percentage of the population and is characterised by excessive sweating. There are two main types of hyperhidrosis – primary and secondary hyperhidrosis

Secondary Hyperhidrosis

This form of excessive sweating occurs in a much more general fashion and is the side effect of some other condition, disease or illness.

Examples of conditions that can cause secondary hyperhidrosis include:

Diabetes

Cardiovascular Disease

Hyperthyroidism

Weight Problems

Endocrine Disorders

Treating secondary hyperhidrosis will focus on treating the condition that is at the heart of the problem.

Primary Hyperhidrosis

As a general rule primary hyperhidrosis will cause excessive sweating from a specific part of the body. The most commn areas to be affected include the hands, the feets, the armpits and the head.

The exact cause of primary hyperhidrosis is not yet known, but what is currently understood is that excessive sweating is related to either the sympathetic nervous system or the sweat glands. This excess sweat is being caused for one of two possible reasons

The nerves are sending the wrong signals to the sweat glands and asking them to produce sweat when there is no sweat required.

The sweat glands are malfunctioning and are not regulating the amount of sweat that is being released.

Click here to learn more about the causes of primary hyperhidrosis

Treatments for Hyperhidrosis

If you have been medically diagnosed with primary hyperhidrosis then there is a good chance you have tried a number of different treatments for your condition already.

The good news is that there are many options available and the one that works for you may be different to someone else with a similar problem. So it’s a good idea for you to work your way through all the natural and commercially available options before moving onto prescription drugs and antiperspirants and possibly Botox or surgery.

Treatment Options For Hyperhidrosis include:

Natural Remedies

Antiperspirants

Botox For Hyperhidrosis

Iontophoresis Hyperhidrosis Treatments

Hyperhidrosis Surgery

As you can see the treatments for hyperhidrosis range from fairly run of the mill natural remedies, to much more drastic measures such as Botox or surgery.

The treatment options you choose will depend on the severity of your situation, how it impacts your life, and the other options that have already been exhausted in your search for a cure.

It is important for you not to give up hope – there are tend of thousands of people before you have successfully reclaimed their lives having previously suffered tremendously at the hands of hyperhidrosis.

When people suffer from excessive sweating there is often an urge to convince themselves that there must be some medical reason behind this condition.

But before looking at these possible medical problems it is important to firstly look at your lifestyle and try and determine whether there are any factors related to your lifestyle that may be playing a role.

Even in cases where a medical condition exists it is possible for you to make some small improvements to your situation by working on areas of your lifestyle that may be problematic

Diet

The first of these is your diet – if you eat a diet that is high in unhealthy foods then your body will be overloaded with toxins and it will need to get rid of these. Sweating is one method the body uses to flush these toxins.

It is also a good idea to avoid eating any foods that stimulate your body’s metabolism. A side effect of a raised metabolism will generally be an increase in sweat production to help control the core body temperature.

Foods and beverages that can raise your metabolism include:

Tea or Coffee (caffeine)

Energy drinks

Chili, Curry & Spicy foods

Guarana or any other herbal stimulants

Alcohol and Cigarettes

Both of these products are high in toxins, and much like with unhealthy foods will need to flushed from your system causing you to sweat more.

Cigarettes have a double whammy effect – they are also a stimulant so they raise your metabolic rate and further increase your body’s desire to sweat to keep itself cool.

Obesity

If you are overweight it will have an impact on how effective your body can be at keeping itself cool. You are carrying extra weight in everything you do and these means your body is working extra hard even when doing even the most simple of tasks.

So as your physical activity becomes even slightly more strenuous your body will sweat to keep your core temperature stable. Losing weight will make it much easier for your body to keep cool which leads to…

Exercise

Exercise can help control your excessive sweating in a number of ways. the first way as alluded to above is by helping you lose weight. When you are carrying less excess weight your body does not need to work so hard at simple tasks and will sweat less.

Also as you become fitter these tasks become ever easier, further reducing the need to sweat.

Sweating also helps your body flush out toxins at a more rapid pace. This means after your exercise session is over you will have far fewer toxins that need to be removed and you should sweat less as a result.

If you have all of these areas under control and you are still sweating excessively then it will be time for you to start exploring what the other causes might be.

Your first stpe will be to start testing natural remedies for you condition. These can offer you a solution to your problem that does not involve resorting to drugs or surgery, making them a much safer alternative.

If you are suffering from excessive sweating then one of the first questions many people ask is how to stop sweating naturally.

But before answering this questions it is good to firstly look at why the body sweats – this will then give you a better understanding of why certain natural treatments for excessive sweating can be so effective.

Why do we sweat?

There are two major reasons we sweat, and one minor reason.

1) To Regulate Body Temperature

The first reason the body sweats is to help keep our body temperature under control. It is a bodily function that developed from deep in our ancestry. When our ancestors were out hunting for their meals in the searing heat, they would normally be semi-naked, and the sheen of sweat on skin would cool their body as they moved in pursuit of their prey.

2) To Flush Toxins From The Body

Sweating is also used by the body as a way to remove unwanted toxins. This can commonly be noticed after a bog drinking session where it smells as if you are sweating pure alcohol – this is your body using sweat to purge itslef of the toxins

3) To Act As A Lubricant

In parts of the body where skin rubs on skin during activity, sweat acts as a lubricant and prevents this friction from becoming painful and causing irritation.

Click here to read more about why we sweat

How To Stop Sweating Naturally?

Now that you understand why we sweat, you can better understand why some of the natural treatment options can work to stop your sweat. This first group are not remedies, they are changes you can make to reduce the excessive sweat produced until you can figure out the exact cause of your problem and treat it effectively.

Eat A Well Balanced Diet & Drink Water

Due to the fast paced world we live in now it is very common for people to have moved away from natural food sources to meals that come in packages and are highly processed and full of additives and preservatives.

These are toxic to the body and one of the way the body will attempt to remove them is via sweating. While making changes to your diet will probably not cure you entirely of your excessive sweating, it is a step that you should take to help reduce your sweat but also for your general health.

Many people may think that drinking more water will mean more sweating. But water actually helps to cool your body and flush out toxins, both of which can reduce your body’s need to sweat.

Cigarettes and Alcohol

Both of these substances can cause the body to increase sweat production. Both contain toxins that the body will use sweat to flush out. Cigarettes are also stimulants, and these substances will increase the body’s metabolism which results in an increase in core temperature and excessive sweating may follow.

Avoid Foods & Beverages That Stimulate Your Metabolism

Much like cigarettes there are foods that have a positive impact on your metabolic activity. Foods and drinks such as chili, caffeine, garlic, guarana, tea and onions can all increase the amount you sweat by stimulating your metabolism.

Cut them from your diet entirely, or limit your intake as much as possible until you have your excessive sweat under control.

Wear Appropriate Clothing

Wearing natural fibers is a great way to keep air flowing across your body which helps evaporate some of the sweat before it has a chance to soak into your clothing.

It is also a good idea to wear darker clothing if your sweating occurs under your arms and sweat rings and stains are obvious

Engage In Regular Exercise

If your body is sweating excessively then why not increase the amount you exercise as a way of possibly speeding the process and having it occur on your own terms.

Exercising or doing physical work is the one time when it is socially acceptable to sweat heavily. By exercsiing you are helping to flush the toxins from your body, and hopefully your body will sweat less at other times of the day.

Being fit and healthy will also help your body better regulate your body temperature as you will be carrying less weight, and everyday activiites will not be as physically demanding as they once were, requiring less effort on the part of your body to keep itself cool.

How To Stop Sweating Naturally – Remedies Known To Work

Apple Cider Vinegar

This common household item has been effectively used by thousands of people as a treatment for excessive sweating. The theory is that the vinegar acts to lower the pH of any area that it is rubbed into. While this does not stop your body from producing sweat, it prevents that sweat from decomposing and allowing the formation of bacteria.

It is this bacteria that leads to B.O – bad odor, a common sign of a sweating problem.

By rubbing some apple cider vinegar under your arms you will prevent your armpit sweat from becoming a bad odor.

Natural Deodorants

While deodorants do not stop sweating, they can act as an anti bacterial which prevents the odor from becoming a problem. One natural deodorant that is easily made at home combines equal parts of baking powder and cornstarch. Add a few drops of an essential oil to the mix.

Spread some of the powder on a damp cloth and wipe on the affected area.

Sage Tea

Sage is a herb that has an astringent effect, which means that it can dry up the sweat glands thus preventing excessive sweating.

Activated Charcoal

As weird as it may sound charcoal is used by many people for its detoxifying properties. In fact it has a greater ability to absord toxins from within the body than any other substance available.

It comes in powder form and is added to water and drunk. This then helps detoxify the body, reducing the need to sweat.

How To Stop Sweating Naturally – Your Own Individual Solution

Each person will be different in how their bodies react to the different treatment options available. You should be prepared to try a number of different options when trying to cure your condition.

It shouldn’t surprise you to learn that there are many different causes of excessive sweating. After all, each person is different so it only makes sense that what causes this embarrassing condition for one person will be at least slightly different than the next.

So where do you start?

The first thing you need to do is start paying attention to exactly when your heavy sweating starts. You are trying to work out a pattern here – by understanding when, where and under what circumstances you start sweating, you will be one step closer to knowing what the cause of excessive sweating is for you.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself that will help narrow down you search.

Does your sweating occur from a particular part of the body (eg the forehead, hands, feet or armpits)?

If it does than there is a chance you may be suffering from a form of hyperhidrosis. This is a medical condition that affects between 2-3% of the general population, and is the unexplained, uncontrollable excessive sweating from a particular area of the body

Do you find that you really start sweating heavily when you are under pressure either at work, or in your family life?

If you do then it is these emotional triggers that need to be dealt with, not just the physical effects. Many people suffer from what is commonly know as stress sweating – an uncontrollable, excessive sweating problem that is at its worst when you are feeling under heavy pressure

Are you fit and healthy? Does your heavy sweating start when you do even the smallest amount of physical activity?

There are many lifestyle factors which have an effect on your body’s sweat mechanism. If you are carrying extra weight then your body’s core temperature will generally increase under very small workloads, and your body will then start sweating as it attempts to regulate this temperature.

There are many other factors related to your lifestyle that can contribute to excess sweating.

The points above are just to get you started in trying to work out the causes of excessive sweating in your particular situation.

You may find that the answers to these questions bring you no closer to discovering a cure for your problem. If your case is severe, is causing you major embarrassment and is making your life awkward then you may need to seek the help of a medical professional.

Some forms of excessive sweating occur because of a malfunctioning of the sympathetic nervous system and in the most severe of cases surgery may be used as the treatment options likely to have the greatest success.

But before you get to this stage you want to explore all the natural remedies available to you. What works well for one person may be a complete failure for another – don’t let this put you off. Simply move on to the next treatment option with an open mind.

When it comes to working out how to stop sweating there are many different options that get thrown out there – from home made remedies offered up by your next door neighbor, to surgical procedures that provide a more drastic solution.

In the end all of the remedies available can be divided into three major categories: natural remedies; stop-gap remedies; medical remedies.

Feel free to click the links for each category to read more information about each.

.

1) How To Stop Sweating Naturally

.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Rubbing this under your arms is a natural remedy that lowers the pH of the area, preventing bacteria and bad odors from becoming a problem

Improve Your Hygiene

Make sure you are washing regularly and possibly using an anti-bacterial soap

Wear Natural Fibers

These allow for better air circulation which can dry off some of the sweat before it soaks into the material of your clothes.

Eat A Well Balanced Diet, Smoke & Drink Less

A diet high in processed food will be full of additives and preservatives. One of the reasons we sweat is to excrete toxins from the body, so by reducing the amount of toxins present you will hopefully be reducing the need to sweat. The same goes for alcohol and cigarettes with both of these being high in toxins that need to be removed.

Exercise More

Use a regular exercise schedule to accelerate the flushing out of your body’s toxins on your own terms when it is acceptable to sweat heavily.

Avoid Foods That Stimulate The Sweat Glands

Foods that are spicy or that stimulate the metabolism will increase your propensity to sweat. Avoid these foods if you are trying to sweat less.

Better Manage Your Stress

If you sweat heavily when you are anxious or stressed then you need to look at activities such as exercise, meditation or yoga to de-stress. Alternatively you can look at natural and prescription methods that do this for you.

2) How To Stop Sweating In The Short Term

.

Use Antiperspirants

There are different brands and strengths of antiperspirants available for you to choose from including prescriptions grade options. Don’t be scared to try and few different types – what works for one person may not work for another.

Sweat Pads

These are perfect for soaking up the sweat under your arms which allows you to hide the evidence of you having a problem with excessive sweat. It also prevents bacteria from taking hold and causing the bad odor that is traditionally associated with excessive sweating under the arms

Alcohol Gels & Wipes

These are particularly useful if you have a problem with sweaty hands. While you are trying to solve the problem these are perfect as a short term method of hiding the evidence and allowing you to perform tasks with your hands without them being constantly moist

Wear Dark Clothes

Obviously this is going to do nothing to stop sweating, but it will make any signs of sweating far less obvious to the casual observer.

3) How To Stop Sweating – More Serious Options

.

If you have exhausted all of the other options, and your excessive sweating has a serious effect on your personal and social life then you may want to take a more serious treatment method.

The three main options available to you are:

Hypohidrosis Surgery – Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS)

Botox For Hyperhidrosis

Iontophoresis Hyperhidrosis Treatment

Hopefully somewhere amongst all this information you will find something that in some way gets you closer to understanding how to sopt sweating and rid yourself of the embarrasment and social limitations for good.

If there is any form of excess sweating that we tend to get most embarrassed about it is this one – excessive underarm sweating.

Not only does the appearance of sweat rings and stains make this obvious for all to see, it can also lead to the development of a nasty odor that can further cause embarrassment.

So What Causes Excessive Underarm Sweating?

Many people wrongly believe that excessive sweating underarms is a sign of bad hygiene, especially if there is a strong associated body odor.

Unfortunately for many people it has nothing to do with hygiene – they could bathe five times a day and still there would be an over abundance of sweat.

Which means that there is some underlying condition that is causing this excessive underarm sweat to occur.

This cause could be one of many factors, or a combination of a number of the them, but at a simple level the possible causes could be broken down into three different groups.

1) Lifestyle factors

People who are overweight will be prone to excessive sweat problems. The same can be said for people who consume a diet that is high in ‘toxic’ foods – foods that are high in saturated/hydrogenated fats and foods that are highly processed, packaged foods generally).

Click here for more information about how your lifestyle affects excessive sweating

2) Emotional Factors

If you find that you experience excessive underarm sweat ONLY when you are in certain stressful situations, then your problem is most likely tied in with these emotional triggers.

Maybe it is is when you are on a deadline for work or you have to give presentations to other co-workers. Whatever the issue, if you can pinpoint your sweat problems to specific emotional causes then you will be in a much better position to work out how to treat your problem.

Rather than relying on medications that deal with the symptoms, a suitable treatment for your excessive underarm sweating may involve learning methods of controlling these emotional responses in such a way that your body no longer triggers the release of too much sweat.

Click here to learn more about dealing with stress to help reduce excessive sweating

3) Physical Malfunctioning

The other major cause of excessive underarm sweating is a faulty system. Either your nervous system is jumping the gun and is signaling for the release of much more sweat than is required, or your sweat glands are acting up and are not regulating your release of sweat, instead leaving the flood gates open.

The treatments in this situation can range from moderate to more drastic. It is suggested that you attempt to solve your problem naturally first – there are many natural options available that can help you stop excessive underarm sweat.

Only when you have exhausted all these options should you turn to the more drastic alternatives such as Botox or surgery.

Click here to find out more about the causes of excessive sweating

Treatments For Excessive Underarm Sweating

The treatment options that works best will be related to the cause of your sweating. For example if your sweat is related to stress than you will be looking at such things as meditation, yoga or even natural/medical sedatives as possible options.

If your issue is your lifestyle than you would need to make changes to your diet or exercise routine first and assess the results, before looking at other options such as Botox or surgery.

If you find that you problems with uncontrollable, excessive perspiration then a question that you would probably love to ask a professional is – ‘Do you know how to stop excessive sweating?

The good news is there are plenty of treatment options available ranging from lifestyle changes, to natural remedies, medications, commercial products, Botox and surgery.

The bad news it that there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to being able to stop excessive sweating. There will be an element of trial and error as you work through what the potential causes of your excessive sweating are and the associated treatments.

Step 1 – What Are the Causes Of Excessive Sweating?

Before you can even begin to decide what treatment is going to be the best way for you to stop excessive sweating, you need to try and figure out what is making you sweat excessively in the first place.

Knowing the cause can help you narrow your focus to those treatments that are likely to have the best chance of fixing your problems. So go ahead and read the article linked to above before moving on to step 2.

Step 2 – Shortlist Your Treatment Options

The treatment you choose will be different for each person and situation. If you think your problem is being caused by stress than the best way for you to stop excessive sweating will be different than if you felt it was your lifestyle that was at the root of the condition.

Follow the links below for a more in depth coverage of the various causes and the potential associated treatments.

Lifestyle Factors

If you think your lifestyle is causing excessive sweat than your treatments will be targeted at dealing with ways of improving your health and fitness and changing your diet to avoid foods that are known to make it difficult to stop excessive sweating.

Stress And Anxiety

Many people find that there are certain situations that will trigger a sudden and uncontrollable surge of perspiration. This can make it difficult for you to perform at your best when you are always worried about an outbreak.

Knowing how to stop excessive sweating in these circumstances will involve learning to gain a greater control over your emotions and the way your body and mind reacts when you are placed under stress or have issues that are causing you concern.

Physical Malfunctioning

If there is no rhyme or reason to your excessive sweating – if your lifestyle isn;t a factor and you have ruled stress out as a cause, then there is a chance that you are suffering from hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat) that is being caused by a malfunction somewhere within your body.

Basically signals are either being incorrectly transmitted to your sweat glands telling them to get active, or the sweat glands themselves are not functioning correctly.

The treatments in this situation will start off with such things as antiperspirants and natural remedies, and move on to more drastic measures where the severity is high and you are having no success in trying to stop excessive sweating.
