How To Stop Sweating Naturally

If you are suffering from excessive sweating then one of the first questions many people ask is how to stop sweating naturally.

But before answering this questions it is good to firstly look at why the body sweats – this will then give you a better understanding of why certain natural treatments for excessive sweating can be so effective.

Why do we sweat?

There are two major reasons we sweat, and one minor reason.

1) To Regulate Body Temperature

The first reason the body sweats is to help keep our body temperature under control. It is a bodily function that developed from deep in our ancestry. When our ancestors were out hunting for their meals in the searing heat, they would normally be semi-naked, and the sheen of sweat on skin would cool their body as they moved in pursuit of their prey.

2) To Flush Toxins From The Body

Sweating is also used by the body as a way to remove unwanted toxins. This can commonly be noticed after a bog drinking session where it smells as if you are sweating pure alcohol – this is your body using sweat to purge itslef of the toxins

3) To Act As A Lubricant

In parts of the body where skin rubs on skin during activity, sweat acts as a lubricant and prevents this friction from becoming painful and causing irritation.

How To Stop Sweating Naturally?

Now that you understand why we sweat, you can better understand why some of the natural treatment options can work to stop your sweat. This first group are not remedies, they are changes you can make to reduce the excessive sweat produced until you can figure out the exact cause of your problem and treat it effectively.

Eat A Well Balanced Diet & Drink Water

Due to the fast paced world we live in now it is very common for people to have moved away from natural food sources to meals that come in packages and are highly processed and full of additives and preservatives.

These are toxic to the body and one of the way the body will attempt to remove them is via sweating. While making changes to your diet will probably not cure you entirely of your excessive sweating, it is a step that you should take to help reduce your sweat but also for your general health.

Many people may think that drinking more water will mean more sweating. But water actually helps to cool your body and flush out toxins, both of which can reduce your body’s need to sweat.

Cigarettes and Alcohol

Both of these substances can cause the body to increase sweat production. Both contain toxins that the body will use sweat to flush out. Cigarettes are also stimulants, and these substances will increase the body’s metabolism which results in an increase in core temperature and excessive sweating may follow.

Avoid Foods & Beverages That Stimulate Your Metabolism

Much like cigarettes there are foods that have a positive impact on your metabolic activity. Foods and drinks such as chili, caffeine, garlic, guarana, tea and onions can all increase the amount you sweat by stimulating your metabolism.

Cut them from your diet entirely, or limit your intake as much as possible until you have your excessive sweat under control.

Wear Appropriate Clothing

Wearing natural fibers is a great way to keep air flowing across your body which helps evaporate some of the sweat before it has a chance to soak into your clothing.

It is also a good idea to wear darker clothing if your sweating occurs under your arms and sweat rings and stains are obvious

Engage In Regular Exercise

If your body is sweating excessively then why not increase the amount you exercise as a way of possibly speeding the process and having it occur on your own terms.

Exercising or doing physical work is the one time when it is socially acceptable to sweat heavily. By exercsiing you are helping to flush the toxins from your body, and hopefully your body will sweat less at other times of the day.

Being fit and healthy will also help your body better regulate your body temperature as you will be carrying less weight, and everyday activiites will not be as physically demanding as they once were, requiring less effort on the part of your body to keep itself cool.

How To Stop Sweating Naturally – Remedies Known To Work

Apple Cider Vinegar

This common household item has been effectively used by thousands of people as a treatment for excessive sweating. The theory is that the vinegar acts to lower the pH of any area that it is rubbed into. While this does not stop your body from producing sweat, it prevents that sweat from decomposing and allowing the formation of bacteria.

It is this bacteria that leads to B.O – bad odor, a common sign of a sweating problem.

By rubbing some apple cider vinegar under your arms you will prevent your armpit sweat from becoming a bad odor.

Natural Deodorants

While deodorants do not stop sweating, they can act as an anti bacterial which prevents the odor from becoming a problem. One natural deodorant that is easily made at home combines equal parts of baking powder and cornstarch. Add a few drops of an essential oil to the mix.

Spread some of the powder on a damp cloth and wipe on the affected area.

Sage Tea

Sage is a herb that has an astringent effect, which means that it can dry up the sweat glands thus preventing excessive sweating.

Activated Charcoal

As weird as it may sound charcoal is used by many people for its detoxifying properties. In fact it has a greater ability to absord toxins from within the body than any other substance available.

It comes in powder form and is added to water and drunk. This then helps detoxify the body, reducing the need to sweat.

How To Stop Sweating Naturally – Your Own Individual Solution

Each person will be different in how their bodies react to the different treatment options available. You should be prepared to try a number of different options when trying to cure your condition.
